Composition Characterization Using Multispectral Photon Counting

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

X-ray computed tomography (CT) can enable non-destructive characterization of multiphase flows (from mixing, boiling and cavitation flows, to flow of agricultural products and processed foods).

With energy resolved measurements and knowledge of various materials energy dependent attenuation properties it is feasible to characterize the material composition beyond density distribution. With redundant data from multispectral CT we aim to reduce uncertainty in phase fraction distribution measurements (and along the way tackle CT artifacts such as those due to beam hardening).
